So, every so often, I send out a e-newsletter about upcoming releases, contests, the various honors that get showered on me, books I've read that I think you might enjoy, and whatever else I've been up to that seems like it would interest you. If you want to receive this mailing, you can sign up on the CONTESTS page and have a chance to win a prize at the same time! See below for the short version of some of my previous letters. |
April 2008 DEMON'S FIRE, the super-hot sequel to PRINCE OF ICE, is out. Early reviews are calling it a "must read" (Night Owl Romance) and a "Top Pick!" (Romantic Times). FAIRYVILLE won a "Hughie" for Hottest Book at RBL Romantica, and All About Romance's 12th Annual Reader's poll voted FAIRYVILLE their Best Erotic Romance for 2007. FAIRYVILLE was also named a "Year's Best" at Romance: B(u)y the Book/LifetimeTV.com AND is up for one of RT's yearly awards, so the fairies are obviously working overtime sprinkling the sparkly stuff on this book! |
January 2008 I've handed in the first installment of a new MIDNIGHT trilogy. Beginning with KISSING MIDNIGHT, it follows the adventures of vampire Edmund Fitz Clare and his adopted human brood in 1930s London. It's been scheduled to come out--bing, bang, boom--in July, August and September of 2009. The pub date for DEMON'S FIRE, the sequel to PRINCE OF ICE, has been moved up to April 1, 2008. My editor called this one "the very definition of having your cake and eating it too." FAIRYVILLE
has been chosen one of the 2007 Romance: B(u)y the Book "Year's Best"
at LifetimeTV.com, and is |
June 2007 Congratulations go out to Sanjay Srinivas, who won the early Advanced Reading Copy for FAIRYVILLE. My editor and I came up with an extra something special to go with FAIRYVILLE. I don't know if you're familiar with amazon.com's "Shorts" program, but they've agreed to carry "And Then There Were Four: the epilogue to Fairyville" as a digital short story. The book is complete without the epilogue; it's just a cherry on the top for those who want a little more to the story after they turn the last page. (And since it's me who wrote the little more, naturally it's a sex scene *g*.) In fact, if you're the sort who likes spoilers, you can read the epilogue before you read the book. The book's official release date is September 4, 2007, but the epilogue is available on amazon.com now. Just search for FAIRYVILLE and you'll find it. I believe the download costs 49 cents. |
Valentine's Day 2007 DEMON'S DELIGHT, also featuring super-duper authors MaryJanice Davidson, Vickie Taylor and Catherine Spangler, is out. I've been invited to participate in another anthology called BEYOND THE DARK, which should be truly hot since the other authors are Angela Knight, Lora Leigh, and Diane Whiteside! If you're looking for good reads, I can vouch that Karen Marie Moning's DARKFEVER, the first in her new Fae series, is quite a find. The worldbuilding is great, the characters will grab you, and for a book with no actual sex in it, it's surprisingly steamy! I'm very much looking forward to the next one. PRINCE OF FIRE (Prince Pahndir's story) is now being called DEMON'S FIRE. That book comes out in May 2008. (Cayla Fraley is the winner of my IT BEGAN ON VALENTINE'S DAY contest. She received copies of all my Berkley anthologies thus far, which means FANTASY, HOT SPELL, and HOT BLOODED. My thanks to everyone who participated!) |
| Nov 2006 Wendy Ruhm and Debbie/Dubby Lee each won an advanced reading copy for PRINCE OF ICE! My thanks to everyone who entered. You're all special, but if you didn't win, stay tuned. I'm bound to be running another contest soon. On the newsy front, I recently turned in FAIRYVILLE, which my lovely agent called "utterly amazing." My lovely editor hasn't had a chance to read it yet, but if she says something nice, I'll probably let you know that, too! I have two good reads to recommend--J.R. Ward's LOVER AWAKENED and Marjorie Liu's delightful gem of a novella in DARK DREAMERS. Both feature wonderfully tortured, wonderfully sexy heroes. |
| Emma's Big Adventure: May 2006 I'm back from the Romantic Times convention, which was a lot of fun, if occasionally overwhelming. When I got home, I was greeted by a wonderful, gushy voicemail from my editor, who'd just finished reading PRINCE OF ICE (due out November 06). She proclaimed it "erotic" and "exotic" and the word "fabulous" might have been thrown around a couple times ;-) . Since my agent was also over the moon about this book, I'm thinking it must be pretty good! My most recent release, ALL U CAN EAT, is doing well. It's been #1 and #2 on the Barnes & Noble Trade romance list. |
| Spring 2006 The winners of my super-quick ALL U CAN EAT contest were Darci Sonin and Amy Mears. |
| Valentine's 2006 The big news is I've signed on for 4 more books with my publisher: 2 contemporaries and 2 historical paranormals. Woohoo! Aliza Abbate won a copy of BEYOND DESIRE in my latest contest. |
| Fall 2005 For my Jane Austen with Teeth
contest, Teri Gomez won all the upyr stories leading up
to COURTING MIDNIGHT, my
Regency-set vampire story featuring Lucius
from CATCHING MIDNIGHT
and HUNTING MIDNIGHT.

| Valentine's 2005 In celebration of Valentine's
Day, I gave away five signed copies of THE DEMON'S
DAUGHTER, my USA Today bestselling, Victorianesque
fantasy. The decision was tough, but the writers of the victorious compositions
were: |
| Big,
Happy News! (11/11/04) THE DEMON'S DAUGHTER made the USA Today Bestseller list at #106! It's my first appearance on my own and I'm very excited. *g* |
| 9/7/2004 HOT BLOODED--the anthology I'm in with Christine Feehan, Maggie Shayne and Angela Knight--hit #31 on the New York Times paperback fiction list, and #45 on the USA Today list! If you haven't checked my site for results, the winner of my END OF SUMMER CONTEST was Eunice Wellborn. My thanks to everyone who participated. I expect I'll run another contest before Fall is over so stay tuned. In other news, BEYOND INNOCENCE sold German translation rights, and STRANGE ATTRACTIONS (10/5/04) earned a Gold Star Award from Just Erotic Romance Reviews. The reviewer says, "Ms. Holly has an exquisite gift of telling a story with suspense, a touch of fear, and passionate blazing sex that will leave you breathless as you turn each page." I especially liked the "passionate blazing sex" part *g*. |
| CONTEST WINNERS (6/2004) I've got winners in my 2-fer-2 contest! Wendy Crutcher and Lisa Kapenstein won signed copies of COOKING UP A STORM and VELVET GLOVE. Congratulations, and thank you to everyone who participated. In news: I sold two more PERVY CHICK-LITS to Berkley. They'll come out in trade size and alternate with my historical paranormals. |
| WINTER 2004 The ARCs of PERSONAL ASSETS for my subscriber-only contest went to: Charlene Smith, Dottie Brooker, Cindy Gibson, and Karen Agee! WordWeaving was kind enough to give PERSONAL ASSETS their Award for Excellence and called it "an absolute treasure."Also of interest to those who like my erotica, four of my older books, COOKING UP A STORM, VELVET GLOVE, IN THE FLESH and THE TOP OF HER GAME will be coming out with very cute new packagiing in 2004. I am quite psyched! |
| FALL 2003 This year's Everything Vampire Contest was a great success, with almost 500 entries. The grand prize was won by Angel McDougal, with second prizes going to Marlene Stanley, Mary Holden and Laurie Bolanos. Congratulations, ladies, and my thanks to everyone who participated. My publisher and I have managed to squeak another book into the schedule! Though we're still working out some of the details, it will be an erotic romance with a fantasy setting and a half-demon heroine. I'm calling it DEMON'S DAUGHTER in my head, but we'll have to see if that sticks. With that book added, my line-up for Fall 04 should be interesting. HOT BLOODED, the vampire anthology with me, Maggie Shayne, Christine Feehan, and Angela Knight will be out in September 04, STRANGE ATTRACTIONS (an erotic contemporary) will surface in October 04, and a book that might be called DEMON'S DAUGHTER will hit the shelves in November. That's 3 projects in 3 months. Pretty keen! In the nearer term, my erotic contemporary, PERSONAL ASSETS, will be available this coming January 6th. Apparently, advance orders have been strong enough that I'm beginning to hear murmurs from my publisher about wanting to contract for more--good news for fans of my erotica, not to mention for me! |
| SPRING 2003 (4/19/03) CATCHING MIDNIGHT goes on sale! "One of the most unusual, original, and enthralling novels I have read," says Raelene Gorlinsky for Sensual Romance. In other news, CATCHING MIDNIGHT sold book club rights. BEYOND INNOCENCE sold Russian translation rights. BEYOND SEDUCTION was voted AAR Readers' Choice for Most Luscious Love Story and tied for a 2002 "Hughie" award with Liz Carlyle's NO TRUE GENTLEMAN. "Luisa's Desire" from FANTASY won a second-place Sapphire in the novella category. All very cool! |
| BOO! (10/31/02) I'm going to be in another Berkley anthology, this one with a vampire theme. It will feature novellas from me, Christine Feehan, Maggie Shayne and talented Secrets author, Angela Knight. A little, ahem, change of plans occurred during the usual plot wrangle over my next vampire book. HUNTING MIDNIGHT will have a medieval setting and feature a shapechanging vampire hero. Finally, BEYOND SEDUCTION sold through it's print run and went back to press. Always a good thing to hear. |
| HAPPY SUMMER! (7/28/02) CATCHING MIDNIGHT, my first full-length vampire novel, is in production--which means my revisions are done and accepted and the check should soon be in the mail [;-)] . Happily, the title has not been changed. It is scheduled for release in May 2003. (For those with long memories, the "After Midnight" line, which CATCHING MIDNIGHT was going to be a part of, is no more. Berkley is still buying paranormals, but they've decided to phase out their lines so that they can focus on building authors rather than categories.) My contemporary erotica has a US home! Berkley picked up PERSONAL ASSETS (currently with the Venus bookclub) plus a second unnamed book. These novels are slated to come out in trade paperback, probably starting in Fall of 2003. I'm really happy about this, not only because coming out in trade is very nice, but because I'll be able to keep writing the full gamut of what I've come to love. Also cool: BEYOND SEDUCTION makes #9 on the Barnes & Noble romance list. |
| VAMPIRES, PART DEUX (2/27/02) I've learned that, in publishing, nothing really happens until it happens (kind of like the fat lady) but it looks like CATCHING MIDNIGHT will be part of the launch of Berkley's new paranormal line, After Midnight. I'm sending up prayers that the logo will be small, so I won't have to change my title. Popular category writer Rebecca York is, last I heard, the launch of the launch author, so hopefully it will make an appropriate splash. Also tentative but nice: it seems there will be at least one more vampire novel after CATCHING MIDNIGHT , as my editor has put dibs on a future slot in the line for me. |
| VAMPIRES LIVE! (10/25/01) Okay, they don't, but I'm happy to announce that Berkley Jove has agreed to buy two more books from me. The first will be a sexy (you know it!) Medieval vampire romance and the second is "to be determined"--so maybe another vampire and maybe another Victorian. Probable release date for CATCHING MIDNIGHT (hopefully the title) is Spring 2003. |
